At Riot Energy, we strive to minimize the negative impact of batteries. Though we are far from perfect in achieving this goal, keeping these issues at the forefront reminds us we can continue to do better.
Safer Batteries
Riot Energy is committed to creating safe batteries. The chemical components of our batteries – water, silver, and zinc – are stable, non-flammable, and non-toxic. This means consumers can safely transport and handle them without risk of deadly explosions. And, in the event of accidental ingestion by children or pets, our batteries present minimal toxicity or burn risk whereas other batteries that are lodged in the esophagus, particularly lithium cells, can cause serious burns.

Recyclable Materials
Recyclable batteries have the potential to reduce battery waste by the ton. Our silver-zinc batteries are recyclable, so their use can help cut down on the constant need for sourcing virgin materials. This in turn can reduce the strain on global resources and unnecessary mining and mining byproducts that are environmentally damaging. Our batteries are recycled at a precious metal refinery, where they go through thermal reduction and melt processes. Responsible Sourcing
We ensure “conflict minerals” are not used in our products. In 2010, the United States passed a law that requires all US stock listed companies to disclose the usage of conflict minerals, meaning those that are mined in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and/or in the adjoining countries where revenues may be directly or indirectly financing armed groups engaged in civil war, resulting in serious social and environmental abuses. Although Riot Energy is not a publicly traded company, we ensure all our materials are ethically sourced and have strict requirements of our suppliers.
